Janay Brooks, Board President
Janay Brooks is the Board President of FaithWorks Compton. She holds a MSW in Social Work from USC and a BA in Psychology and Sociology from Rutgers University. Janay's passion for empowering and advocating for vulnerable populations came through volunteering. Mrs. Brooks is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the Deputy Director of WLCAC Family Source Center.
Anjetta Bowles,
Board Treasurer
Anjetta Venters-Bowles is the Board Treasurer and the former Assistant Director of the Bureau of Workforce Development, DPSS. As the AD she was responsible for over 10,000 LA County employees working in Welfare offices. She has over 40 years of work experience in public service agencies on the State and County level. She has a
Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the Pacific and completed the Master in Business Administration program at CSULA. Anjetta is a member of the Angel City Chapter of the Links; Century City Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta; and also on the Board of Directors for the Children's Collective.
Latoya Creighton,
Board Secretary
Ms. La Toya Creighton is the Board Secretary and resident of Compton, CA. and employed with the United States Postal Service. Ms. Creighton also works as a sous chef in a local bakery. Ms. Creighton holds an Associate’s Degree in Corrections from Compton College and she also holds certification in Corrections as well. Her passion includes participating in grassroots efforts within Compton, like painting houses, advocating for anti-human trafficking and volunteering.
Danny Johnson,
Board Member
Danny Johnson has been on the FaithWorks Compton Board since its inception. He has served as the Treasurer and now as a member of the Finance Team. He attended Indiana University from 1970 to 1974. Danny retired from AT&T after 33 years of service. He has served on the Deacon Board for almost (15) years. Danny enjoys a front row seat, to see the city of Compton being won for the glory of God!
Gwendolyn Venters-Taylor
Board Member
Is the newest Board Member of Faith Works Compton. She began her impressive career with, and retired from, the Department of Public Social Services with almost 45 years of service. From her start as an Intermediate Typist Clerk, she rose through the ranks having held 17 positions at the time she retired as a Senior Manager in the Department’s Human Resources Division. Ms. Venters-Taylor was a recognized as an executive and management Human Resources trainer and expert. Although she has assisted the County Department of Human Resources in a part time position since retirement, Ms. Venters-Taylor enjoys traveling extensively. She brings a love for God and His people to the Board and a true desire to be of service to the community.
