Jenita Igwealor


Jenita has spent the last several years working in the labor movement, where she is a fierce advocate for workers’ rights and various social justice causes.   Prior to joining the labor movement, for over a decade  she utilized her undergraduate degree in Managerial Accounting and Finance and worked as a finance professional for large and small companies.   


Ms. Igwealor is a graduate of Whittier Law School and licensed real estate broker in the State of California.  She is also a recent graduate of the Los Angeles African American Women’s Public Policy Institute where she received intensive and comprehensive training to prepare women for corporate advancement, to run for elective office, manage political campaigns, seek government appointments, understand public policy decision-making, and sharpen leadership skills.   


Jenita is an active participant in her local community and passionate about civic engagement.

Anjetta Venters-Bowles


Anjetta Venters-Bowles is the Treasurer for Faithworks Compton and a former Assistant Director (AD) of the Bureau of Workforce Development, Department of Public Social Services. As the AD she was responsible for over 10,000 LA County employees working in Welfare offices. Prior to working for Los Angeles County, Mrs. Venters-Bowles was the Area Administrator for the Employment Development Department, Disability Insurance Branch.


She has over 40 years of work experience in public service agencies on the State and County level. She graduated from David Starr Jordan High School. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the Pacific and completed the Master in Business

Administration program at CSULA.

Anjetta is a member of the Angel City Chapter of the Links; Century City Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma

Theta; Board of Directors for Faith Inspirational Missionary Baptist Church and the Children's Collective.

Ilu Johnson

Director of Donor Services

Ilu Johnson is the Director of Donor Services for FaithWorks Compton. He is an active member at Faith Inspirational Missionary Baptist Church where he serves on the Men’s Ministry.


Mr. Johnson works for the city of Lynwood. He is a dedicated husband and father of two. Ilu is the owner of Bomb Entertainment.

LaToya Creighton

Director of Charitable Programs

Ms. LaToya Creighton is a lifelong resident of the City of Compton and she currently serves as the Director of Charitable Programs and Corre-sponding Secretary for Faith Works Compton Board of Directors.

Ms. Creighton is employed with the United States Postal Service. Her passion includes participating in grassroots efforts within the city if Compton, like Painting Houses, Anti-Human Trafficking and volunteering for Movie in the Park.Ms. Creighton doubles as a sous chef in a local bakery in her spare time.


Ms. Creighton holds an Associate’s Degree in Corrections from Compton College and she also holds certification in Corrections as well.

Danny Johnson

Finance Team

Danny Johnson has been on the FaithWorks Compton Board since its inception. He has served as the Treasurer and now as a member of the Finance Team. He attended Indiana University from 1970 to 1974. Danny retired from AT&T after 33 years of service.

He has served on the Deacon Board for almost(15) years. Danny enjoys a front row seat, to see the city of Compton being won for the glory of God!

Arlene Jackson

Executive Vice-President

Arlene Mechele Jackson is the Executive Vice-President of the FaithWorks Compton board of directors. Ms. Jackson currently works for South Central Los Angeles Regional Center for the developmentally disabled as a Program Manager for twenty (20) years.

Arlene Jackson is an Alumna of Alabama A&M University where she received a Bachelors degree in English and Political Science in 1992. She also holds a Master of Arts degree in Behavioral Science with a concentration in family and community conflict. Ms. Jackson is a certified mediator and holds a non-profit  management certification.

Ms. Jackson holds active memberships in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and a Charter Member of the 1913 Toastmaster Club.

Janay Jones-Brooks

Director of  Youth Programs

Janay Jones-Brooks is Director of Youth  Programs and serves as the recording secretary for FaithWorks Compton.  She holds a Master of Social Work degree from University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology from Rutgers University. While at Rutgers, Janay discovered her passion of empowering and advocating for those within vulnerable populations through volunteering..


Ms. Jones- Brooks is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and a Youth Leader at Faith Inspirational Missionary Baptist church, where she currently leads the “Kingdom Kids” ministry.

Kay Ramsey Adult Services and Emplyment.

Dr. Kay Ramsey

Director of Employment and Adult Services

Dr. Kay Ramsey, is the Director of Employment and Adult Services for FaithWorks Compton.  She is also a LA Times published Author, also published in Fostering Families Today magazine, interviewed on Spectrum News 1 and various podcasts is the Executive Branch Director for Southern California overseeing offices in Camarillo, LaMirada, and Riverside. As a former foster youth and adoptee,

Dr. Ramsey has a personal commitment to GOD in being a good steward of HIS work as she has triumphed beyond adversity throughout her life. As a transformational leader and visionary, Dr. Ramsey brings 20 + years of experience in social services.  Dr. Kay Ramsey successfully completed her Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration with a concentration in Non-profit Leadership. She also has a dual Masters with receiving her MA from Pepperdine University in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy, and a Masters of Business Administration.

Hansel Harris


Hansel Harris is the parliamentarian for FaithWorks Compton and is also the Director of the Sankofa College mentoring program.


Mrs. Harris Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University of Long

Beach in Labor Relations. Hansel worked as a Labor Representative and Advocate for the SEIU Local 721



Hansel is a happily retired civic leader who is committed to the vision of transforming the city of Compton. She is devoted to enhancing the lives of children and adults. Her passion is teaching people to eat healthy. She is the owner of Hansel's Vegan Cooking.
